Why we should have Area Control as default mechanic ?

Reasons are obvious, ships escaping next to us, because for unlucky reasons you were not able to hit them during 2 mins time. How? Grape/ball did not penetrate, chain/ball went through damaged holes in sails without hit or you're stuck against the wind and enemy ship is out of shooting angles, or there is a brawl, for example, 5v5 and you keep asking everyone if X is tagged, if Y is tagged, etc.



Please help.
